Don Phaneuf

Don Phaneuf is an Employment Consultant with Employment Action (EA). Don's background is as a Human Resources generalist with specialization in employment, recruitment and career/work counselling. He has broad experience in counselling employees on employment barriers, career development and change, re-training, self-employment and retirement; in a variety of situations and cultures. Additionally, he has implemented 'in-house' career/resource centres to empower individuals to define strategies for personal career management. Don is a Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) and graduated with honours from the George Brown College Career and Work Counsellor program.

Dayna Shereck

Dayna is a Workforce Specialist at Employment Action. She uses her lighthearted approach when dealing with clients and has a special gift for exploiting her clients' natural talents and abilities while being acutely aware of their preferences and workplace temperaments. She has recently started an evening coffee night which she facilitates for Employment Action clients who are job searching and may need additional motivation and encouragement.

As a part time student at University of Toronto studying sociology with a focus on social determinants of health, and a graduate of the George Brown / JVS B.E.S.T (Bringing Employment Specialists for Tomorrow) program, she combines a thorough sales and marketing background with her empathic client-focused nature. Having recently attended the AIDS 2008 Conference in Mexico City, Dayna is looking forward to working with the Employment Action team to incorporate new return-to-work strategies for our clients.

Saif Ahmed

Saif Ahmed is an Employment Consultant in the Pre-Employment aspect of EA, where he provides career counselling and assists clients in being competitive in the labour market. Saif’s professional background involves work in the for-profit sector in private colleges. Saif holds a Bachelor’s degree in psychology with two post graduate diplomas in career counselling and behavioural science technology intensive. The latest addition to EA, Saif brings with him a unique blend of diversity combined with progressive innovative ideas that are ingredients to success in today's globalised marketplace.

Mary Ann Stoddard

Mary Ann is a real-life example of successful career change. She became an employment professional in the not-for-profit sector in 2005. Before that, she had a long career in the corporate sector in retail, telecommunications and finance. Her former job titles include: Sales and Marketing Manager, Product Launch Manager, Call Centre Manager, Network Manager, and Technical and Soft Skills Trainer. From her long corporate career, Mary Ann draws on her experience to understand and meet employers' staffing needs.

Mary Ann was a key member of the executive committee of the Rainbow Employment Network of Toronto (RENT). RENT held the first LGBTQ job fair in Toronto in March of 2008. The job fair was a great success, welcoming over 20 employers and 540 job seekers.

Miguel Cubillos

Miguel is a Job Developer for Employment Action, where he connects HIV-positive clients who are seeking employment with suitable employers.

Using his background on immigration, settlement and HIV/AIDS issues, Miguel breaks down employment barriers by coaching job seekers to build their skills and discover the hidden job market. He brings with him research experience with the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto, the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) and the Ontario HIV Treatment Network (OHTN). He also worked as a case manager with communities displaced by the armed conflict in Colombia.

Marsha Malbari, MEd, CCPA

Marsha joined the Employment Action team in July 2009, bringing with her years of experience in employment counselling for a range of clients, from at-risk youth to office workers.

As an Employment Consultant, Marsha prepares her clients for the job search and connects them with opportunities for skills development. With formal training in counselling, Marsha provides basic job search training while also focusing on the unique needs of clients with episodic disabilities.

Marsha is a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association and a recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee Medal in 2001 for voluntary service. She holds a Master’s degree in Adult Education and Counselling Psychology from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto.
